Thing #3 - Video Web Connecting
My kids have been using Skype for awhile to stay in touch with some of their international friends, so this one isn't very new to me. My favorite ideas for application in the classroom are: guest lecturers, visits with museum curators, and sharing class productions. There are of course many more applications depending on the subject taught.

I got my master's degree with video conferencing! I was living in El Paso at the time and UT Austin offered it to us that way. It was before online classes were mainstream so we had to meet at a local college and watch from a video. We could interact with the teacher and students in the Austin class. There were lots of technical quirks but it was pretty awesome to be able to do. On a non-educational note, I've heard of iChat dates. Renee's daughter has done it. It seems weird to have to put make up on to use your computer... :-)
